The combined range is compact (trumpet 1 ranges e1 to a2; trumpet 3 ranges a to d2) allowing this piece to be performed by both intermediate and advanced trumpeters. It is graded as a "3" on the New York list (out of a range of 1 to 6, 6 being the most difficult).
